The Christ<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, an exceptional painting by Salvador Dal\u00ed from the collection of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, is on show in a temporary exhibition at the Dal\u00ed Theatre-Museum in Figueres (Catalonia, Spain) from 25th<\/sup> October 2023 to 30th April 2024.<\/p>\n

Purpose of the exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the first time at the Dal\u00ed Theatre-Museum, given the importance of this exhibition, the entire Loggias area at Galatea Tower \u2500Dal\u00ed’s last house\u2500 is being prepared to display an exhibition centred on this iconic painting and the creative process behind it.<\/p>\n

This exhibition allows us to revisit a piece that had not been seen in Spain since 1952, when it was shown in Madrid and Barcelona. More importantly, it enables us to delve into the artist’s universe and explore the importance of Dal\u00ed’s studio in the Mediterranean Bay of Portlligat (Cadaqu\u00e9s), set in a landscape without which this painting would not acquire its full significance. The exhibition project provides the art lovers with new contributions based on recent research, preparatory drawings, and archive material, some of which has never been shown to date.<\/p>\n

One of Dal\u00ed’s most iconic master pieces<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dal\u00ed painted the Christ<\/em> in 1951 as the closing of a period of transformation and the culmination of his desire to become a classic and the “saviour” of modern painting. He returns to the postulates of quantum mechanics and introduces religious figures into his oeuvre because of the evolution of his thought. The Christ<\/em> is the painting that links two creative periods, serving as a transition and helping us understand the vital moment the artist was experiencing at the time.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
